On Wednesday March 8, we’re celebrating International Women’s Day, and embracing equity in our creative community in Southern California, with an amazing lineup of music and comedy at The Hotel Cafe in Hollywood.

Joining her will be incredible musical performances by Joanna Pearl, Maureen Toth, Lisa Sanders, Arielle Silver, Devon Michael, Julie Tan, Sara Petite, Christina Chriss and Hannah Avison.

We’ll also be highlighting some wonderful organizations including VoteRunLead, SisterSong and The 100 Percenters.

It all happens March 8, from 7-11pm. Tix on sale now. Hope to see you there!

Lineup:

Gena B. Jones – Gena is a Syrian-Mexican-American writer, comedian and show producer based in Los Angeles. She got her start doing comedy on the East Coast before moving to LA in 2018. In 2019, she was selected to be a comedian in development at the Hollywood Improv Comedy Club where she co-produces Hilarious Habibis, a quarterly standup showcase that exclusively features Middle Eastern talent. The show recently sold out the main room at The Improv and was featured by Al Araby TV. Each month, Gena produces and hosts ‘Gena’s Jungle,’ a popular comedy and music variety show which takes place at rotating venues throughout the city and features some of LA’s hottest talent (Comedy Central, Conan, Adult Swim).

Joanna Pearl – Singer, songwriter, activist, entrepreneur, yoga teacher and Grammy member, Joanna Pearl devotes her life to making the lives of others better. Whether it’s through her Award-winning solo recordings, which include the moving empowerment anthem “I Am Woman,” to guest features on other recordings, including singing in Portuguese on the latest Chicago album to helping establish both a Songwriting Camp for young girls and OC Hit in Costa Mesa, a multi-level Artist Development Agency and recording studio, this first generation Sri Lankan-American was born for this moment as she flips the status quo in total.

Maureen Toth – There is an inherent quality in Maureen Toth’s forthright material that draws comparisons to Patty Griffin, Shelby Lynne and Joni Mitchell, while her vocals call to mind a more delicate mood akin to that of Beth Orton, Suzanne Vega and Beth Gibbons of Portishead. Review Fix compared Toth’s songs to “charming coffee house concoctions, warm and full of spice” akin to Sara Bareilles, while Yahoo! Voices applauded the “beautiful storytelling” that “whisks you away like an instant getaway.”

Julie Tan – Earning a degree from USC’s Thornton School of Music, Tan helmed the popular LA band Nobody You Know, opening for Sun 60, Melissa Ferrick, Michael Penn and The Wallflowers. Her numerous production credits include projects for Elvis Costello, Charlie Sexton, and Chris Whitley. She’s also CEO/owner of AEA Ribbon Mics, an LA-based manufacturer of high quality ribbon microphones and ribbon mic preamps.

Lisa Sanders – With a musical style that can only be described as a soulful country blues, Lisa Sanders is a multi-award-winning singer & songwriter and contributing songwriter for NBC/Peacock series “Babble Bop.” Writing, singing and producing from her heart in nearly every genre, including folk, pop, gospel, rock and jazz, for over three decades, and with a much-anticipated project, “Daughters Of The Rising Tide” co-written & produced by JT Nero of Birds Of Chicago w/ special guest Allison Russell, on the horizon, Sanders continues to make an impact in the musical world.

Arielle Silver – Arielle Silver is a consummate storyteller whose rich, expressive voice and acoustic guitar frame expansive melodies that echo her many homes, tours, and travels across the American heartland. Raised in woodsy and watery places up and down the Atlantic Seaboard, she now lives in Southern California a traffic jam away from the Pacific Ocean.

Sara Petite – An outlaw country headliner whose music reaches far beyond the genre’s borders, Sara Petite has built an award-winning career with songs that owe as much to the rock & roll roadhouse as they do the honky-tonk. Hers is a raw, rough-edged version of American roots music, delivered by a five-time International Songwriting Competition finalist who’s spent nearly two decades calling her own shots. Over the course of seven albums, Sara has no interest in chasing trends. She’s too busy chasing the muse instead, earning a wide range of accolades — including Top 40 success on the Americana charts, international airplay, and more than a half-dozen trophies from the San Diego Music Awards — along the way.

Christina Chriss – Straight out of Detroit, Christina Chriss grew up singing and performing locally until forming her band Kaleido in 2012. They have since toured nationally and internationally, sharing stages with everyone from Aerosmith, KISS, Kid Rock, Rob Zombie, Sebastian Bach, and many more. Christina has also performed the National Anthem at Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers & Detroit Pistons’ games. Currently residing in Los Angeles, her star continues to rise.

Devon Michael – Beaming with sun-streaked alt-pop sensibilities, Devon Michael is a singer-songwriter / producer who aims to spread a message of self-love and to inspire self-discovery through her music. In advance of her debut EP ‘Even NASA Loses Satellites,’ Devon Michael has launched a livestream concert series in partnership with Sam Ash Music Stores and curated a series of social media collaborations with AKG, JBL, Elixir and Mackie, sharing a behind-the-scenes look at her recording process as a 100%er.

Hannah Avison – #1 Charting songwriter, artist, content creator and music activist (The 100 Percenters), Hannah has made her mark on the industry from every angle imaginable. Her songs include “Stuck on You” (Blanke), “Monster” (Diviners), “Hold on Tight” (Hoang)”, and she has co-written with incredible talent such as Lauv, Ava Max, Fletcher, Jordin Sparks, Kalie Shorr, Nacho y Chino, among many other global talents.

Spotlight Organizations:

SisterSong – SisterSong’s mission is to strengthen and amplify the collective voices of indigenous women and women of color to achieve reproductive justice by eradicating reproductive oppression and securing human rights.

VoteRunLead – Unleashing the political power of women as voters, candidates, and leaders to create and sustain an equitable democracy.

The 100 Percenters – With a particular focus on BIPOC and marginalized communities, The 100 Percenters’ mission is to empower and uplift music creatives by providing them with essential resources support and education ensuring that they have equal access to opportunities and revenue streams.
