BONZAI Launch ‘Maxed Out Visa’ Contest & “One Margarita” Pop-Ups

Riding a wave of good-will and acclaim are West Tennessee’s Bonzai, a tight-knit band of comrades who’s mission is spiritual connection and acceptance.

Uniting their fellow brethren with deliciously intoxicating anthems, co-MCs Chris ‘Keela’ Case and Landy ‘Taco’ Moore believe in the community of music as an antidote to throes of everyday woes. One world. One love.

Sometimes all that’s needed are reassuring words of wisdom and a cool sunny rhythm. Bonzai are experts at marrying the two. Evidenced in their 3-minute anthem, “One Margarita,” a hypnotic concoction wrapped with the adage “Got a maxed out visa, Dancing to the beat of,” its unifying essence encapsulates the thrill of living in the moment, of letting go and just enjoying life, peeling away the stripes of strife.

With “great Cali reggae vibes” [Blatantly Blunt] and a “bewitching rolling rhythm, hefty and alluring” [The Pier Magazine] just one sip is enough to be complicit. So delicious.

Empathetic as a collective, the guys love to give back to the community that’s given them a home, a platform so now they’re bringing their words to life with a “Maxed Out Visa” contest that gives fans an easy way to talk about their favorite band, share their favorite anthem and be entered for a chance to win one of ten $100 Visa gift cards with an additional Grand Prize winner nabbing a $250 Visa gift card.

Currently running through November 28, full details of the ‘Maxed Out Visa’ contest (with rules to enter) are available at MaxedOutVisa.com

With rising inflation coloring the day, the group is happy to help those in need during the upcoming Holiday. It’s just one of the ways they foster ties to the hardworking denizens of Jackson. It’s what they do, what brings them comfort and joy, delivering good-will and good times.

On a recent afternoon, the band took their message to the streets, literally, as they set up a “One Margarita” pop-up in a vibrant part of town to hand out pint size adult beverages to those of age. It was a chance for Bonzai to do what they do best, connect with people.

A repeat engagement is set for Sunday, November 20 (at 4:00pm local) at 605 Carriage House Drive in northwest Jackson. Patrons can imbibe in the vibe and mingle with the the Bonzai tribe. Future pop-ups with food trucks and live music are in the works.

Signed to Last Minute Music, with distribution through The Orchard/Sony, the foursome is elevated by the rhythm section of Madison Bryson (drums) and bassist/keyboardist Taylor Whitney (who recorded and mixed Margarita). For the booze-induced earworm, the group had Greg Shields (from Kash’d Out) add a verse with 21-time Grammy-winner Howie Weinberg mastering the final flourish.

For the official video, the group enlisted Emmy Award-winning director/producer, Waheed AlQawasmi, known for his stimulating eye-popping campaigns for GoDaddy, Cheerios, Zappos, FOX TV shows, ‘The Following’ and ‘New Girl’ and work for country superstar Reba McEntire.

The video went viral but nothing is as contagious as a daft rhythm, a scintillating beat.  It’s a great escape that dives deep to the very core of your being. It’s freeing, it’s freedom.

At the end of the day, when the tequila is flowing, the riddims are hitting and the vibe is glistening, we’re all just spirits in the sky looking to have a good time. Bonzai!
