Boston indie folk rockers Town Meeting have debuted their new song, “The Imitator,” via Atwood Magazine. The premiere gives fans an exclusive first listen before its official release on Friday March 12.
Written during the pandemic with lyrics by drummer/vocalist Russ Condon, the song peers behind the curtain of duality.
In an exclusive interview with the magazine, Condon reflects, “As with most any song an artist births, one would hope that the listener draw their own meaning, and hope even further, that they draw a meaningful meaning from it at that.”
He continues, “Duality is often a muse for my writing especially in the concerns of false identity and what we think we “are” when we think about what others might think about us or even what we imagine of our ”self“ to be.”

The song marks the band’s first new music since the release of their 3rd album, Make Things Better, last summer. A 3-track archival Ep, From The Vault (Volume One), followed in October.
The quintet, which also includes Russ’ brothers, Luke (vocals, guitar) and Brendan (vocals, harmonica, percussion), as well as multi-instrumentalist Tim Cackett (mandolin, lead guitar, vocals) and bassist/vocalist Derek Fimbel, will soon play their first in-person shows of 2021 with an April 30 date at Stone Church in Newmarket, NH and a Memorial Day weekend gig at Marty’s Driving Range in Mason, NH, on Saturday May 29.
