Emerging Brooklyn-based roots rocker Kevin Daniel, who’s garnered critical acclaim from Relix Magazine, No Depression, Blue Ridge Outdoors, Ditty TV, Americana Highways, and The Alternate Root, has issued “Used to Be,” the soul-stirring 2nd single from his forthcoming debut album, Things I Don’t See (due in July).

Produced by Kenny Siegel at Old Soul Studios in Catskill, NY, the song’s twang-fueled, gospel-like revival has been compared to Langhorne Slim, Ryan Bingham and Gram Parsons.

With rugged, full-throated vocals by Daniel, the track rumbles down the alt country highway with his crack band of accomplished musicians, [guitarist Jon LaDeau, of the National Reserve, along with Lee Falco (drums), Brandon Morrison (bass), and Will Bryant (B3, keys) of The Restless Age], bursting in between the seams.

Kevin’s music career started when he was five years old, singing Disney songs into a turkey baster turned microphone. A year later he was enrolled in music lessons, starting on piano and saxophone, and by middle school was playing in state symphonic bands, touring with classical horn trios, and singing his heart out while exploring a growing passion for guitar.

By the time he graduated from George Washington University, Daniel had played in two quartets, four high school orchestras, two jazz and blue bands, one bluegrass band, one punk ska group, and even sang tenor in an acapella group.

In the years since, Daniel’s songs, the ones that thread his two EPs (FLY  & Myself Through You) and his soon-to-be-released debut album, have become his salvation.

As 2019 comes into focus, he has his eyes on the horizon. Next up is an (un)Official showcase during the NonComm Radio Convention in Philadelphia and a summer residency at Rockwood Music Hall in New York City. Backed by his band, The Bottom Line, the residency kicks off May 31, launching his ‘Things I Don’t See’ Tour of the Eastern U.S.
