Award-winning Contemporary Blues Artist Karen Lovely is putting the finishing touches on her 5th album, Fish Outta Water, a swampy, funky mix of all new original Blues and Americana and the follow-up to the critically-acclaimed Ten Miles of Bad Road.
On Fish Outta Water (Forty Below), Lovely has continued the advocacy and outreach she started with her previous albums, Still the Rain, and Ten Miles of Bad Road, by writing songs that raise awareness about important social issues like domestic violence, sexual assault, homelessness, suicide, mental health and addiction and because she believes in a zero tolerance world, 10% of every dollar raised over her Pledge Music goal will go to RAINN, the national organization dedicated to ending domestic violence and sexual assault.
For her Pledge campaign, Karen organized a fantastic assortment of exclusives, both merchandise and experiences. In addition to autographed copies of the new CD, fans can pledge to receive: a personal ‘Happy Birthday’ video message, a disposable camera filled with pics (taken by Karen), a photography calendar, handwritten lyrics, their name in the liner notes while one lucky person will be the proud owner of a one-of-a-kind hand-painted hat.
Fans can also attend a BBQ/acoustic concert at Dockweiler Beach in Los Angeles, a private listening party in her hometown of Portland or even have a one-on-one songwriting session at a recording studio (PDX or LA).
To check out all the offers, please visit Pledge Music.
As we look forward with hope of a brighter new year, Karen wanted to share a personal message:
Every day is a new opportunity to be the person you want to be…another chance to be kind, to be fair, to be understanding and compassionate, gentle, patient, and tolerant, creative, wild, free.
LOVE – if your heart gets broken, it will heal…time heals all wounds and wounds all heels.
DANCE, even when your feet don’t want to…
SING – it’s not about what you sound like to others…it’s about how good it makes you FEEL to be yourself.
BE – be there for others, be kind to yourself, be open to understanding.
LIVE with all your might.
To all of you who have made me laugh, cry, care, think, and hope, this past year, THANK YOU.
Thank you for letting me be a part of your own life adventure.
I wish everyone peace, joy, love, and happiness, understanding, compassion, tolerance, a mind free from fear, and a heart open to light.
I wish you zeal.
