Hot on the heels of her global breakthrough music video “Earthquake,” which topped the YouTube chart in Australia and hit Top 5 in France, Italy, Canada and New Zealand, 17-year-old singer/songwriter Em Rossi premiered her “Young Hearts” video on Monday May 2 via teen culture outpost, TWIST Magazine.
Having collaborated with producer Jim McGorman, known for his work with Avril Lavigne, Cassadee Pope, Sabrina Carpenter and Kate Voegele, to record the powerful song, Rossi teamed up with acclaimed live action director Kurt Zendzian (Awolnation, David Duchovny, The Tenors, Johnny Gill) to bring the emotional vibrancy of “Young Hearts” to life.
Shot in a sprawling warehouse in Sarasota, FL, the visually engaging exposé showcases Rossi’s burgeoning star quality as she confidently sashays from frame to frame. Stylized by fashion guru Bek Phillips, utilizing wardrobe from Free People, the Women’s Boho Clothing division of Urban Outfitters, Inc, the bold, yet tasteful presentation is a reflection of voguish affectation.
Zendzian recalls the genesis of the organic metamorphosis, “We had a good idea of what we wanted the video to look like, but something magical happened during our location scouting. The unfinished warehouse spoke to me. The rough steel girders contrasting Em’s natural beauty could not have worked better. The colors, textures, dancers, everything blended together perfectly. I couldn’t be happier or more proud of what we created.”
The video showcases dancers Aliska Burkina and Zavio Gonzalez, a dynamic duo from the Florida repertory Dance Fever. Subsuming contemporary ballet that subtly pays tribute to the iconic choreography of cultural milestones Dirty Dancing, Step Up and Flashdance, Aliska and Zavio glide intertwined with body, mind and spirit combined. Cinematic ambiance is awash with graceful dalliance.
In conjunction with Rossi’s YouTube chart success, she has a concert special entitled Sessions at Willow Grove airing nationally, on demand, in 25 million homes via Comcast/Xfinity, and her music is included in the new WWE movie Countdown, featuring global superstars Kane and Dolph Ziggler.
