Internationally renown Japanese pianist Keiko Matsui recently released “Live in Tokyo,” the definitive live recording of her 35-year career.

The exquisitely produced CD/DVD (with 3+ hours of content) has been championed by fans and lauded by critics with leading jazz authority All About Jazz espousing, “Live In Tokyo is a four-star finish to the latest chapter in Matsui’s musical journey and a bridge to her next destination.”

Ms Matsui is also a global ambassador and humanitarian. Over the course of her distinguished career, Keiko has lent her voice to raise awareness for such causes as The Daniel Pearl Foundation, The United Nations World Food Programme, Be The Match Marrow Registry, The National Donor Program and Marrow Foundation.

On her most recent studio album Soul Quest, she penned a sublime and lilting waltz entitled “Antarctica: A Call to Action,” which opens with primordial rhythms and addresses the fact that Antarctica is melting and it is affecting all the animals and entire planet.

The version of “Antarctica: A Call to Action” on Live in Tokyo is a 7-minute tour-du-force featuring saxophonist Kirk Whalum and guitarist Chuck Loeb.
